LOVES PARK, IL - The Flyers (25-41) used two Joey Gomes homers to blast the Rockford Riverhawks (29-35) 12-5 at Road Ranger Stadium Monday night.

Gomes finished his marquee night 3-5 with two round trippers, a double, five RBI, and three runs scored.

Rockford started the scoring off in the bottom of the first with a Travis Scott two run single, but then the Flyers bats came alive.

Schaumburg tied the game in the second when newest Flyer Mario Delgado launched a Brett Durand (6-6) offering over the center field fence. This is Delgado's second stint with Schaumburg after winning the 2004 Northern League Most Valuable Player.

The Flyers added one more in the third and Gomes hit his first bomb of the night off Durand in the sixth to give Schaumburg a 4-2 lead. The Riverhawks starter went 6.1 innings, giving up eight runs on 13 hits while striking out five.

Brett Harker (5-7) continued to shut down the Riverhawks all night and finished with a six inning effort surrendering just three runs for his second consecutive win.

In the seventh inning, the Flyers poured it on with a five run frame. Ron Bourquin sent through the left side to plate two and Gomes bashed his second homer of the night, a three run shot to greet Rockford's Jon Huizinga.

Schaumburg reliever Tom Lyons picked up his second save, tossing the last three innings while allowing just two runs.

The Flyers continue their four game set with the Riverhawks at Road Ranger Stadium Tuesday night. Ryan Gehring will take the hill for Schaumburg opposite Rockford's Roger Lincoln.
