Goldeyes Add Rookie Pitcher Hart

WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Goldeyes signed left-handed pitcher Alex Hart on Saturday.

Hart is a true rookie who recently completed his college career at Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina, and will make his professional debut tonight as Winnipeg's starting pitcher against the Gary SouthShore RailCats.

The Raleigh, North Carolina native was 9-4 with a 3.48 ERA in 16 starts for the Barton Bulldogs as a redshirt senior in 2022. Hart struck out 108 and walked only 26 in 111.1 innings pitched. The 23-year-old left-hander earned NCAA Division-II All-Southeast Region honours, and led Conference Carolinas with six complete games. The 6-foot-1, 240-pound Hart totaled 274 strikeouts during his five collegiate seasons from 2018-22, which tied Barton's program career record.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes play game two of a three-game series on the road later today against the Gary SouthShore RailCats. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. All the action can be heard locally on CJNU 93.7 FM and worldwide at www.cjnu.ca

The Goldeyes return home on Tuesday, July 26th when they host the Chicago Dogs at Shaw Park.
