Goal-Scoring Morin Back in Ice Fold

Indianapolis Ice News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, IN-- The Indianapolis Ice announced today that the team has re-signed right winger Etienne Morin (AYE-tee-en Moh-rahn) to a contract for next season.

Morin's arrival on the pro scene was a successful venture as he finished the year with 40 points (25G, 15A) to go along with a team-leading (+20) plus/minus. His 25 goals ranked him third on the Ice and in a tie for second among all CHL first-timers. His quality season earned him recognition as one of the finalists for the CHL Rookie of the Year that eventually went to Amarillo's Derek Hahn.

"Etienne made a great adjustment from college to pro last season," said Ice Head Coach Ken McRae. "He's going to be a bigger part of our special teams next season as he will see more power play and penalty killing time.

The 24-year-old forward out of Levis, Quebec had some big nights for the Ice last year as he led the team with two hat tricks (3-goal nights) and tied for the club-lead with two four-point nights. His 40-point season overall was also second best all-time for an Ice CHL rookie, trailing only Peter Bournazakis' 77-point year in 2001-02.

Before turning pro, Morin played four years of NCAA Division One hockey with the Colgate University Raiders of the East Coast Athletic Conference. He was captain his senior season and collected 62 points (31G, 31A) in 138 collegiate games.

In other news, the Ice announced the signing of 6-2, 235-pound forward Marc Collins. Collins has spent the last six years splitting time with St. Norbert College of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCAA-III) and St. Albert of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. He posted 17 points (9G, 8A) and 131 penalty minutes in 56 collegiate games and produced 36 points (18G, 18A) and 582 penalty minutes in two years of juniors. He was also part of championship teams with both St. Norbert and St. Albert.
