KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (August 20, 2013) -- The Savannah Sand Gnats pounced on the Kannapolis bullpen for five runs in the seventh inning to snap the Intimidators' season-best seven-game winning streak with a 5-2 win on Tuesday at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. Savannah's Brandon Nimmo paced the Gnats, going 3-for-5 with a two-run single and a run scored in the seventh.

Gabriel Ynoa spun 7.0 innings, earning his league-leading 14th win and his third in three starts against Kannapolis. Ynoa (14-4) gave up two runs on five hits while striking out three. Hunter Carnevale and Beck Wheeler each worked a scoreless relief innings, and Beck notched the save (17).

Keon Barnum drove in both runs for Kannapolis, including a solo bomb to right field to lead off the bottom of the seventh. He finished 1- for-3 with 2 RBI and a run scored, continuing his hot streak. He is batting .467 (7-15) in four games since returning from the disabled list over the weekend.

The loss spoiled a second straight scoreless outing from Intimidators starter Adam Lopez, who gave up four hits and three walks while striking out seven -- two shy of his career-high -- over 6.0 innings in a no decision.

Storm Throne (1-4) took the loss, allowing four runs on two hits with two walks and a strikeout in one-third of an inning. Euclides Leyer relieved Throne one out into the seventh and allowed both inherited runners to score. After giving up a run of his own in the seventh, Leyer settled down to work a scoreless eighth and ninth, finishing with 2 2/3 innings of work, allowing a run on one hit with three walks and two strikeouts.

The Intimidators will try to start a new winning streak on Wednesday in Game 2 of the 3-game series against Savannah at 7:05 p.m. For ticket and promotional information, fans can call the F&M Bank Box Office at (704) 932-3267 or visit intimidatorsbaseball.com.
