July 30, 2011 - Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL)
Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs News Release

The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs hosted the Golden Eagles of Glens Falls before a crowd of 872 fans.

Glens Falls was able to take an early lead when the second batter of the game, Ricky Claudio (St. Thomas College) smashed a deep homerun over the left field wall giving the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead.

Golden Eagles' starting pitcher, Nick Gonzalez (University of South Florida) could not get out of the first inning after walking the first five Mohawk Valley batters of the game. When all was said and done, the Dawgs scored three runs without gaining a hit to take over the lead 3-1.

Glens Falls chipped away at the lead, in the second when Josh Anderson (Yavapai University) smacked the team's second homerun of the game. Then, in the top of the fourth, they broke the game open with four hits, two walks, and a throwing error by the DiamondDawgs third baseman Nic Spence (University of Cincinnati). The highlights included a second homerun by Anderson, who finished the game with three hits, and a two-run single by left fielder Mike Kindal (Kansas State University). In a unique twist, the Golden Eagles' catcher, Dan Klein (Kansas State University) walked in all four plate appearances.

Mohawk Valley's centerfielder Hassan Evans (Herkimer County C.C.) had two hits and a walk.

Peter Noordsy (Wofford College), Jordan Keysor (Skidmore College) and Antwan Brown (Santa Fe College) relieved Gonzalez and held the Golden Eagles scoreless for the final eight innings of the game. Noordsy (4-0) was credited with the victory and Willie Gabay (Herkimer County C.C.), Mohawk Valley's starter, was tagged with the loss and had his record fall to 2-3.

The DiamondDawgs play a doubleheader Sunday, July 31st against the Albany Dutchmen. The first game starts at 5:05PM with the second game to follow twenty minutes after the conclusion of the first.
