
Gladiators sign WR Darrin Chiaverini

Las Vegas, NV, December 8, 2006- The Las Vegas Gladiators signed Wide Receiver Darrin Chiaverini today it was announced by Gladiators' Head Coach Danton Barto. Per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
"Darrin has been a very productive player in the AFL and we are excited to have him join the Las Vegas Gladiators" said Barto.
Chiaverini (6"3, 217, Colorado) has spent the past three years in the AFL on the roster with the Austin Wranglers. In 2005 he started all 16 games for the Wranglers leading the team and ranked eighth in the AFL in receptions with 114 for 951 yards and 18 touchdowns on offense. He also recorded 25.5 tackles, three interceptions for 41 yards, and a fumble recovery. Chiaverini has been with the Wranglers since 2004 when he signed on in week 6 of their season and played in all of their remaining 12 games.
Chiaverini began his career at Colorado where he played in 42 games with 19 starts during his four-year collegiate career. In 1999 he was a fifth round draft pick for the Cleveland Browns, where he ranked fifth among NFL rookies in receptions and sixth in receiving yards. He also played with the Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons until 2004 when he joined the AFL and the Austin Wranglers.
