Las Vegas Gladiators News Release

The Las Vegas Gladiators put up a fight in their 69-68 loss to the Georgia Force in Georgia this Sunday. Scoring on every drive in the second half, the 1-6 the Gladiators proved that they were capable of keeping up with the 6-1 Force.

The lead changed hands eight times throughout the game as the Gladiators fought to pull themselves out of what now amounts to a five game losing streak.

The Gladiators' QB Brian Jones led the team in his first start in the AFL. Jones completed 27 of 37 passes for 366 yards and 8 touchdowns. Jones added to his exceptional game play with a rushing touchdown in the second quarter. Jones didn't set his sights on one receiver, which gave both WR Thabiti Davis and WR Etu Molden the opportunity to record over 100 yards each. Both receivers recorded three touchdowns for the day. Touchdowns were also contributed by WR Terrance Quattlebaum and FB Josh Rue.

The Force was led by QB Chris Greisen, who completed 10 touchdown passes and threw for 376 yards. WR Chris Jackson led the receiving corps in catches, and ended the game with five touchdowns.

Never down by more than eight points, the Gladiators found ways to make big plays. A missed field goal by Las Vegas kicker Steve Azar was converted into seven points after being fumbled by Force Jarrick Hillery and recovered by Gladiators FB Josh Rue for a touchdown. With seconds left in the fourth quarter, a play that would've come up short turned into a touchdown when WR Thabiti Davis caught a pass, then lateraled it to WR Etu Molden to end the game 69-68.

The Gladiators go on the road next week as they take on the Colorado Crush on Friday, April 20th at 6:00 PST.
