May 6, 2006 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Las Vegas Gladiators News Release
The Las Vegas Gladiators announced today that they have relieved head coach Ron James of his duties effective immediately. Offensive coordinator Mike Hold will take over as Interim Head Coach for the Gladiators final game on May 13 in Los Angeles.
"We want to thank Ron James for all the hard work and dedication that he gave to the Gladiators organization," said Gladiators General Manager Dan Dolby. "At this time, we were not getting the results we needed on the field and we had to move in a different direction. We will begin the search for a permanent head coach when the season is over and we look forward to getting the Gladiators back on track with our goals towards winning an ArenaBowl championship."
James led the Gladiators to an 8-8 record in 2005 and the team is 5-10 this season entering the final weekend. Hold coached the Carolina Cobras of the Arena Football League during the 2003 season.
The Gladiators travel to Los Angeles for their final regular season game on Saturday, May 13 to take on the Avengers at Staples Center.
