DULUTH, Ga. - The Atlanta Gladiators announced today that the team's episode of Georgia Public Broadcasting's "Georgia Traveler" series will air Thursday, June 16th at 8:00 PM EST.

Now in their ninth season, "Georgia Traveler" takes the viewer on exciting adventures found throughout the state of Georgia in search of food finds, getaways, outdoor activities, family fun, and local legends. Host Phil Proctor, 30-year television veteran and Emmy Award Winner, spent an afternoon with the Gladiators back in December for the show. Lacing up the skates for the first time, Proctor learn the basics from Gladiators Captain Derek Nesbitt, Alternate Captain Tyler Murovich, and defenseman Ian Barteaux. The footage from the "Georgia Traveler" visit, as well as interviews with all three Gladiators players and footage from the team's annual Teddy Bear Toss game, will comprise Thursday night's episode.

"When the day wrapped, he [Proctor] could not stop talking about how much fun he had," said GPB Producer Shantel Copeland. "He said that being a hockey player for a day was one of the most fun times he has had doing Georgia Traveler. The players were great teachers and you can tell they love what they do."

Gladiators Senior Director of Digital, Media, and Game Operations Christina Johnson felt similarly about the experience.

"Having the crew from 'Georgia Traveler' with us after practice couldn't have been more exciting," she said. "Phil and Shantel were so easy to work with, and definitely made our non-television stars feel comfortable. Watching Phil interact with our three players was wildly entertaining and I think will really help make the segment."

Those interested in seeing the Gladiators episode of "Georgia Traveler" can catch its premiere Thursday, June 16th, 2016 at 8:00 PM EST on GPB. Check local listings for channel information.
