COLUMBUS - The Cleveland Gladiators visited the Columbus Destroyers in the "Battle of the Buckeye State" on Saturday night at Nationwide Arena, defeating the Destroyers, 59-57 in front of 15,946 fans. The Gladiators improve to 3-0 while the Destroyers fall to 0-3 on the season.

Raymond Philyaw found Robert Redd on a 17-yard touchdown strike late in the game, giving the Gladiators a 59-51 lead. After Destroyers signal-caller Matt Nagy connected with Derek Lee on a 33-yard score, Columbus failed on the two-point conversion and the Destroyers trailed 59-57.

The Gladiators recovered the Mark Lewis onside kick attempt with 20 seconds left in the game, preserving the victory.

Philyaw finished 19-of-28 for 209 yards and five touchdowns in the win. Redd followed up his spectacular performance from a week ago, leading the Gladiators receiving corps with seven catches for 74 yards and two touchdowns. Otis Amey notched six receptions for 71 yards and three touchdown receptions.

Marlion Jackson carried the ball eight times for 47 yards and two touchdowns. He also added one catch for 18 yards. Amey recorded a season-best 238 all-purpose yards with 71 receiving and 167 kick return yards.

Nagy finished 24-of-35 for a game-high 351 yards and seven touchdowns for the Destroyers. His favorite target on the night was Lee, who recorded game-highs with 11 catches and 171 yards.
