Gladiators Announce Local Radio Coverage

Cleveland Gladiators News Release


The Cleveland Gladiators, along with Clear Channel Communications and Salem Radio, are pleased to announce that 99X (FM 99.1) and AM 1420 The Answer will broadcast ArenaBowl XXVII between the Cleveland Gladiators and the Arizona Rattlers on Saturday, August 23 at 8:00pm. The game will be streamed live on www.whkradio.com, and will also be carried live on 1440 WHKZ-AM in Warren, Ohio. Doug Plagens, "The Voice of the Gladiators", will handle the play by play while veteran Cleveland Sportscaster Kenny Roda will provide reports from the field in his role as sideline reporter.

In addition to calling Gladiators action, Plagens is also the Radio/TV play-by-play announcer for Cleveland's Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League. Plagens, 29, is in his third season in the Gladiators broadcast booth, and brings over 500 games of professional broadcasting experience. He was the 2010 ECHL "Broadcaster of the Year" while with the Idaho Steelheads, holds a master's degree from Syracuse University and a bachelor's degree from Lake Forest College in Illinois.

The Cleveland Gladiators are part of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena organization and also owned by a group led by Cavaliers Majority Owner and Quicken Loans Founder and Chairman Dan Gilbert. The group also owns and operates the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League playing at Quicken Loans Arena and the Canton Charge of the NBA Development League playing in nearby Canton, Ohio at the Canton Civic Center.
