July 16, 2012 - West Coast League (WCL)
Bend Elks News Release
Darin Gillies, a right handed pitcher from Arizona State University, was on the mound for the Bend Elks on Monday night and pitched brilliantly, surrendering only three hits on his way to his first complete game shutout of the summer, as the Elks defeated the Corvallis Knights 2-0.
Gillies used only 93 pitches to get through the entire outing, walked one and struck out 5 in picking up his 3rd win for the Elks in the WCL summer season.
Offensively for the Elks, Will Sparks had an RBI single in the first, and Bo Walter scored both runs for the Elks, who picked up their first win against Corvallis in 2012.
The Elks will return to action on Tuesday against the Knights on Free ball night, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Bend. The first 500 kids in the stadium will receive a complementary baseball with the Bend Elks logo.
