Kelowna Falcons News Release

Wenatchee, WA: It was not the outcome the Kelowna Falcons were hoping for in Wenatchee against the first place Applesox. The Falcons suffered a 2-1 loss in 11 innings on Sunday night to finish 1-3 against the Sox over the weekend.

Sunday night the Falcons saw a terrific start from David Ernst who pitched in his final game this summer. Ernst is returning to North Dakota on Tuesday to have surgery on his hand. The right hander would throw 7.1 innings scattering five hits and allowing an unearned run. Unfortunately he didn't receive any offensive support.

Alan Scott would come out of the bullpen and would give up a run in the bottom of the 11th, handing the Falcons their 15th loss of the summer.

Offensively the Falcons would jump out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the third on an RBI hit from Cameron Alvarado, scoring Preston Gray. That would be the only scoring for the club on Sunday.

The Sox would tie the game in the bottom of the fourth on an unearned run. Jace Conrad commits his eighth error allowing the runner to score.

Then in the bottom of the 11th the Sox would get an RBI hit from Mitchell Gunsolus, his 29th RBI of the summer to record the victory.

The Falcons suffer losses of 4-3, 5-3 and 2-1 in Wenatchee, who will visit Elks Stadium July 29-August 1.

The Falcons (19-15) head home and will prepare for the most important series of the season to date, a four game set with the second place Bellingham Bells (21-12) which begins on Monday night.
