Giants Begin Four-Game Series Against Modesto Tonight The San Jose Giants begin a seven-game homestand this evening with the first of four straight contests against the Modesto Nuts at Municipal Stadium. Andrew Suarez is slated to make the start on the mound for the Giants tonight. Suarez, a former second round draft pick out of the University of Miami, was San Jose's opening night starter this year. He entered the season ranked as the #10 prospect in the San Francisco organization according to MLB.com. Following the series versus the Nuts and an off day on Monday, the Giants continue their homestand with a three-game set against Stockton beginning on Tuesday.

Road Trip Report The Giants went 3-4 on their Southern California road trip that concluded last night. San Jose split a four-game series at Inland Empire to begin the trip highlighted by a season-high 11-run outburst in the finale last Sunday. The Giants then dropped two out of three games to Lake Elsinore. San Jose batted just .215 as a team and was shutout twice during the trip. The road trip served as the Giants' only visits to Inland Empire and Lake Elsinore this season.

Blowout Loss Last night's 17-3 defeat in Lake Elsinore marked the most runs allowed by San Jose since a 17-6 loss to Stockton on July 4, 2014. The seven home runs given up were the most allowed by Giants pitching in a game since the 2009 season (7 HR at High Desert - April 26, 2009). San Jose had surrendered just five home runs in their first 10 games this year before Lake Elsinore's seven-homer barrage last night.

Shaw's Extends Hitting Streak To Eight Games First baseman Chris Shaw brings an eight-game hitting streak into tonight's action. Shaw is batting at a .375 clip (12-for-32) with three doubles and five RBI's during the streak. The hitting streak is the longest by a Giants player this season.

Versus The North Tonight begins a stretch for the Giants playing 24 out of their next 27 games against North Division opponents. Only three of San Jose's first 11 games this season came against the North.

Hitting Leaders Outfielder Steven Duggar (6th, .341) and shortstop C.J Hinojosa (10th, .333) both rank among the top 10 in the California League in batting average. Duggar is also tied for second in the league in home runs (4), second in slugging (.732) and fifth in on-base percentage (.438). Duggar hit only one home run in 229 at-bats last season for Salem-Keizer. He has four homers in 41 at-bats this year. Hinojosa, who has hit safely in nine out of ten games played this season, ranks tied for sixth in the league with five doubles.

Fargas File Outfielder Johneshwy Fargas has five outfield assists in 11 games played this season after throwing out a runner at the plate to end Tuesday's 5-4 Giants win. The five outfield assists lead the California League. Offensively, Fargas is also tied for first in the league with three triples and tied for fifth with five stolen bases.

San Francisco Affiliation This year is San Jose's 29th season as an affiliate of the San Francisco Giants - the longest current partnership of any team in the California League. Since their inception in 1988, the San Jose Giants have won six league championships (1998, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010), 11 North Division titles and qualified for the playoffs 21 times (in 28 seasons). The Giants enter this year having posted a league-record 12 consecutive winning seasons (2004-2015).

Opponent Notes: Modesto Nuts The Modesto Nuts, an affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, are off to a 6-7 start this season. Modesto is sixth in the California League in batting average (.251), third in runs scored (5.2 per game) and eighth in ERA (4.25). Second baseman Forrest Wall leads the league in RBI's (14) while outfielder Max White is tops with eight stolen bases.
