Greenville Drive News Release
Greenville, SC - With the 2009 Opening Day less than 7 weeks away, the Drive have announced plans to host a pre season open house for fans of baseball and downtown ballpark entertainment on Mach 14th at Fluor Field. Billed as FanFest, the event marks the first time single game tickets for the 70 regular season Drive home games can be purchased by the general public. In addition, fans will receive free admission to a Division 1 collegiate baseball tripleheader to insure they are in a proper baseball mindset.
11:00AM marks the time that the Main Street Box Office opens for ticket sales and the Fluor Field gates open for the first game of the collegiate tripleheader. With many dates on the 2009 schedule that are sure to be hot sellers, Drive fans will want to take advantage of this first opportunity to purchase single-game tickets.
"We're getting close to Opening Day and we want to make sure that our fans are anticipating April 13th just as much as we are with this free event," commented Drive General Manager Mike deMaine. "Single-game tickets to Fluor Field are going to be even more desirable than last year, so we expect to see plenty of fans planning ahead to insure that they secure the games that they want during this first opportunity to purchase single game tickets for the 2009 season."
In addition to the opportunity to purchase single game tickets, fans will also have the chance to check out the Drive's full and partial season ticket plan options and see the specific seating options that are still available.
As part of the festivities, Michigan State University, Xavier University, and Quinnipiac University will be participating in a tripleheader, round-robin style of play. First pitch between Xavier and Quinnipiac is scheduled for 12:00 PM. Xavier and Michigan State will square off at 3:30 PM, and Michigan State and Quinnipiac will conclude the tripleheader at 7:00 PM.
Drive Co-Owner and President Craig Brown, a Michigan State alumnus noted, "FanFest will give baseball enthusiasts plenty to enjoy as they check out all the activities at Fluor Field and also have an opportunity to see three premier college baseball programs that they wouldn't normally get a chance to see. I can think of no greater stimulus for the people of the Upstate than an afternoon of free family fun and exciting baseball at value oriented Fluor Field.""
Looking ahead to the 2009 Season, Brown added, "The Drive is once again delighted to be able to offer plenty of exciting baseball action and family fun and entertainment right here in downtown Greenville."
Additionally, those fans that are new and old to Fluor Field will have the opportunity to receive a guided tour of the ballpark. During this tour, fans will receive an overview of the history of the stadium, as well as opportunity to visit usually restricted areas such as the Press Box, Upper Deck, and more.
"This is going to be a very exciting day in which fans can get their fix of baseball prior to the start of the Drive's season, while younger fans in attendance will be able to take part in plenty of games and bounce houses along the concourse level at Fluor Field," deMaine added. "We've been fortunate to have the incredible support of the community of Greenville and the Upstate. We sincerely thank our fans for the tremendous response that has resulted in record-setting crowds each year, and we look forward to another exciting season of Drive baseball in 2009."
