Get Hooked on Hot Stove Madness with Trot Nixon

(Bridgeport, Conn. - February 18, 2015 ) - The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced they will be hosting a Hot Stove Madness event, featuring keynote speaker, former Major Leaguer and Boston Red Sox star Trot Nixon, on Thursday, March 19th. The event will take place at the Orange Ale House & Grille, in Orange, CT from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and support the Bluefish Educational & Sportsmanship Foundation.

"In the spirit of March Madness, we're excited to host another fun event as we usher in a new season of Bluefish Baseball," said Bluefish general manager Jamie Toole. "This event is designed to support the Bluefish Educational & Sportsmanship Foundation, our non-profit organization, and will also be a FINtastic opportunity to network with local businesses and individuals."

Trot Nixon is a former Major League Baseball outfielder, best known for his time as a member of the Boston Red Sox. He spent 10 seasons in a Red Sox uniform between 1996 and 2006, and was a member of the 2004 World Series Championship team. During his 12 year Major League career, which included stints with the Cleveland Indians and New York Mets, Trot compiled a .274 batting average with 137 home runs, 555 RBI, and 579 runs scored over the course of 1,092 games played.

In addition, the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and Bridgeport Bluefish will present the 2014 Atlantic League Executive of the Year Award to Tonya Shepard, who will be in attendance to accept the award on behalf of Ken Shepard.

Individual tickets for the event may be purchased at $25, with proceeds benefiting the Bluefish Educational & Sportsmanship Foundation. This includes an invitation to the event, where you can watch the second round of NCAA tournament games, along with food (pasta w/ marinara sauce, pizza, and salad), two drinks tickets, and the opportunity to hear from and meet Trot Nixon.

In addition, all guests will be able to test out their basketball skills on the Bluefish Madness hoop and also participate in a bracket-style pairs pool tournament, with the first place team winning the opportunity to become Bluefish Managers for a day. The Bluefish organization launched their Educational & Sportsmanship Foundation during the 2014 season as one of their many ways of giving back to the surrounding community. The mission of the Bridgeport Bluefish Educational and Sportsmanship Foundation is to use the game of baseball to help give back to those in need through achievement based initiatives and be caring, reliable, philanthropic leaders actively engaged in providing needed support and leadership in the community.
