Georgia Force News Release

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA, August 9, 2005 - The Georgia Force announced today that wide receiver/linebacker Derek Lee, who was named to the AFL's All-Rookie team last season, was placed on the team's Other League Exempt List after signing with the Chicago Bears last week.

LEE (6-5, 215, Tennessee Tech) becomes the second Force player in team history to be invited to an NFL training camp following his time with Georgia (Bruce Adrine- Atlanta Falcons, 2004). He ended the regular season with a team-high 113 receptions for 1,234 yards and a team-high 33 touchdowns. Lee's 113 catches also established a new AFL rookie single-season mark (105 by Mike Baker- St. Louis, 1996 & 105 by Troy Bergeron- Georgia, 2005).

In 2005, Lee combined with rookie teammate Troy Bergeron to lead the League with the most receiving touchdowns by any combo in the AFL combining for 64 receiving scores en route to helping the Force to their first Southern Division title and National Conference championship.

The Georgia Force concluded the 2005 season an AFL best-tying 13-6 record, which included a perfect 10-0 home record at Philips Arena, and an appearance in ArenaBowl XIX.
