Bakersfield Blitz News Release

BAKERSFIELD - George "The Giant" McArthur will be attempting to break the World Record for most concrete bricks smashed while lying on a bed of nails at the Bakersfield Blitz half time show on Saturday, July 29, at Rabobank Arena. Kick off is set for 7:00 p.m. against the Everett Hawks. George will be attempting 48 bricks, making the weight over 1,300 pounds, while balanced on a bed of 12-inch steel spikes spaced two and a half inches apart. The current record stands at 37 bricks, weighing 1,163 pounds.

George "The Giant" McArthur standing at seven feet three inches, was born and raised in Bakersfield, CA. George has performed throughout the United States and Canada, as well as in movies such as "Big Fish," "Tough Luck," and "Firecracker." He has also performed on television programs like "Ripley's Believe It Or Not," "Touched by An Angel," and "According To Jim," to name a few. George started performing feats of daring with fire eating at the age of twenty-one. This was to over come a fear of fire. George developed his fear of fire after his eldest brother was severely burned during a break-in at his home and survived.

George was motivated by his brothers desire to not let this tragic incident ruin his life. George wants to show people that with desire and determination anything is possible.

George McArthur and The Bakersfield Blitz would like to thank Tuff Shed, Wooden Nickel, Ross Chiropractic Clinic Inc, The Prime Cut, and Photos Now Inc for all of their support.
