Gent, Mannina and Owens Join Chicago Hounds

Hoffman Estates, Ill. (August 21, 2006) - The Chicago Hounds and Coach Greg Puhalski announced Monday the signing of defensemen Bryan Gent, Matt Mannina, Mike Owens. The three bring experience and depth to the defending zone.

Bryan Gent (6 feet, 217 pounds) hails from Milton, Ontario. The rookie defenseman who played his past four seasons with the State University of New York at Oswego where he was Assistant Captain for the Lakers his senior year.

"Brian is a solid defensive player," said Coach Puhalski, " I am looking forward to working with him this year."

Also signed Monday was Matt Mannina. From right here in Schaumburg, IL, Mannina (5'10", 175 ponds) played last season with Providence College. On playing his rookie season with the Chicago Hounds, "He is pleased to be near his hometown," said Coach Puhalski, "Matt's versatility playing both forward and defense will be a true asset for this team."

The third defensive player signed was Mike Owens (6 feet, 190 pounds). For the 2005-2006 season, Owens played for the UHL's Richmond Riverdogs who relocated to Chicago at the end of the season. Prior to the UHL, Owens played four years at Utica College of Syracuse University (2001-2005).

Coach Puhalski said, "We want Mike to take a step forward and improve off his fine rookie season."

The Sears Centre, home to Hounds hockey, is an 11,000-seat state of the art multi-purpose family entertainment, sports and cultural center under construction in Hoffman Estates' Prairie Stone Business Park. Located right at I-90 and Route 59, it will host more than 135 events each year, and is projected to attract more than 750,000 annual visitors.
