GENEVA, N.Y. - The Red Wings advance to 5-3 on the 2018 season with another team win over the Elmira Pioneers Sunday afternoon 4-0. Pitcher #19 Sean Lubreski (NJIT) led the way for the Wings with a grand total of 90 pitches, 8 strikeouts, and only 4 hits allowed over the span of 8 full innings. Pitcher #4 Trace Holder (Southern Alabama) came into the game in the ninth to close, accounting for 2 strikeouts and a fly-out.
The game remained scoreless until the fifth inning when the Wings scored 2 runs. The Wings raised the score to 3-0 with another run scored in the sixth, and tacked on another in the eighth inning to bring Geneva to their final score of 4-0.
Hit leaders for Geneva were outfielder #8 Sam Fuller (St. Bonaventure), infielder #9 Jared Gillis (Delaware State) and infielder #24 Evan Magidan (Bucknell) all with 2 hits each. Infielder #31 Nick LaBrasca (Youngstown State), Catcher #12 Lane Powell (Alabama Southern) and Outfielder #20 Brennan Smith (MCC) all had 1 hit a piece.
#8 Sam Fuller also notched 2 RBI's in this contest; his teammates #13 Austin Jackson (Menodocino CC) and #24 Evan Magidan also had 1 RBI each. Geneva ended the day with 9 hits total.
The losing pitcher for Elmira was #24 Collin Lowe (Richmond) who pitched 6 complete innings. The Pioneers had 4 total hits courtesy of #15 Tanner Johnson (Kentucky), #16 Brooks Carlson (Samford), #2 Colin Davis (Wofford) and #27 Tom Henderson (UC Berkeley).
The Geneva Red Wings will take on the Watertown Rapids Monday, June 11th in Watertown at 7:05pm. This matchup will be the first for these two teams this season.
