Geneva Red Wings News Release

GENEVA, N.Y. - The Red Wings lost their second game in as many days, falling to the Jammers 4-3. Jamestown (6-1) would use two runs each in the in the second and third innings as well as strong pitching from starter David Lyskawa (UMBC) to win their sixth game of the season. Geneva (4-3) was led by leadoff hitter Brian Knapp (Pomona College) who would open the scoring for the red wings in the bottom of the fifth inning.

After Jamestown capitalized on four walks given out by Geneva starting pitcher Jameson Moran (RIT) to give themselves a 4-0 lead, Geneva would get one back as Knapp rocked the second pitch he saw over the fence in right field. After two more innings of scoreless baseball, the Wings would continue their comeback when Lane Powell (Alabama Southern) brought in two more runs with a double. The Wings kept the game close going into the home half of the eighth with a wild defensive play at home plate to keep the Jammers from scoring. Geneva's comeback effort would fall just short, as Jammer's closer JJ Dunn (St. Anselm) would strike out the side in the bottom of the ninth to secure the victory.

Geneva will be back in action on Sunday June 10th when they host the Elmira Pioneers for their YMCA youth t-ball night, first pitch at 4:05.
