Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. (October 7, 2009) - The Quad City Mallards, proud International Hockey League (IHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, today announced that Genesis Health System has been named presenting sponsor for the Mallards' inaugural IHL season as part of a multi-year relationship with the team.
"This is one of the larger programs we are doing with any sponsor," said Mallards Executive Vice President and General Manager Shawn Hackman. "The fact that this is a multi-year partnership shows the belief Genesis has in our organization. We look forward to working closely with Genesis as a partner this year and in the years to come."
Genesis will serve as the Mallards' official health care provider and as such will provide all team doctors and professional athletic training services for the Mallards.
"Hockey is back in the Quad Cities and Genesis is pleased to be able to continue supporting the Mallards,'' said Ken Croken, Vice President of Marketing, Genesis Health System. "Genesis has a long tradition of supporting sports, entertainment, and the arts, in addition to our sponsorship of health and fitness events throughout the region. As one of the region's largest employers, we live and work here and enjoy our relationships that make the Quad Cities an interesting and entertaining place.''
The Genesis partnership with the Mallards will also extend off the ice and into the community.
At each game the Genesis Health System Community Spotlight will honor one Quad Citian for his or her service to the community. The honoree will receive four ICE ROW tickets to that game and will also be presented with a Mallards' replica jersey.
Genesis will also team with the Mallards on the club's "Blades for Grades" program, through which Mallards players visit area schools to share their stories and encourage constructive behavior in students.
Genesis's presence will be apparent every time the Mallards take to the ice -- Mallards uniform jerseys will sport a Genesis logo above and to the left of the team's logo.
Genesis is also a key part of the Mallards' media efforts. The radio broadcasts of all Mallards regular season and playoff games -- including pre-game and post-game shows -- on WYEC 93.9-FM will be presented by Genesis. On the team's official web site, www.myqcmallards.com, "MallardsVision Presented by Genesis" will provide all the latest video interviews, news and other Mallards updates fans will need to keep up with the team.
The Mallards' second home game of the season on Friday, October 30 will be Genesis Official Game Puck Giveaway Night. The first 1,000 fans through the doors for the Mallards' game against the Flint Generals will receive free Mallards game pucks.
Single-game tickets for the Mallards' inaugural IHL season, beginning with "Faceoff Rocks" on October 24 featuring not only the Mallards' home opener against Fort Wayne but also hard rock legends Night Ranger live in concert outside the i wireless Center, are now on sale.
Mallards tickets are available at the i wireless Center box office, Ticketmaster outlets and www.ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000. The box office is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. through the end of the second period.
"Faceoff Rocks" kicks off a 38-game home schedule loaded with special events, unique promotions and giveaways. The Mallards and the i wireless Center have also teamed up to offer fans new Dollar Value Menus and free parking for home games all season long.
"Faceoff Rocks" festivities begin at 4:00 p.m. on October 24; admission to all events -- including the Night Ranger concert -- is free with a ticket to the Mallards' game. The first 2,500 fans to arrive for "Faceoff Rocks" will receive a free Mallards opening night t-shirt. The Mallards will also give away free team magnet schedules and Mallards Thunderstixx. Fans taking in the Night Ranger concert will also have the chance to enjoy an outdoor beer garden and giant screen plasma television outside the i wireless Center. The fun will not stop there. "Faceoff Rocks" will also feature a Hockey Hall of Fame Fan Fest including the Hall's largest collection of Legends of Hockey travelling exhibits and memorabilia and interactive games.
