The Victoria Generals pounded out 14 hits and received a great outing by starting pitcher Dakota Mills (West Virginia University) on their way to a 10-2 win over the Texas Marshals on Saturday night in Dallas. Mills threw 119 pitches in the game scattered across seven innings. He struck out nine, walked four, and allowed just six hits and two earned runs to pick up his first win of the season.
The Marshals only runs of the game came in the third and fifth innings off of Mills. In the third, Nick Ramos (Stephen F. Austin State University) singled before Jace Reese (Cisco College) and Carlos Contreras (Northwood University) both walked to load the bases. James Stroud (Cochise College) then hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Ramos. In the fifth, Ramos doubled and came around to score on an RBI double by Contreras.
Alvaro Rondon (Texas A&M University - International) paced the Generals offense on the night going 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, an RBI, and a run scored. John Elson (Lehigh University) picked up three RBIs in the game as well.
Alex Dandridge (North Carolina Central University) took the loss for the Marshals as he allowed four runs on eight hits and three walks in 3.1 innings of work.
Konner Kyser (Cisco College) tossed two scoreless frames for the Marshals without allowing a hit.
Carson Shaddy (University of Arkansas went 2-for-3 for the Marshals with a double and a triple.
The Generals improved to 2-0 on the season with the win and the Marshals fell to 1-2. The two teams will meet again on Sunday night for game two of the two-game series at 7:05pm at Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas.
