
Generals Sign Three Prospects for '09

EL PASO, TX. : The El Paso Generals announced on Friday, January 9, 2009 from Si Senor Tortilla Factory in Las Cruces, New Mexico that three players have been signed to the Generals roster for the 2009 season. (DB/WR) Curtis Morrow, (DL) Ruben Gonzalez, and (QB) Darrack Davis will be joining the club for training camp as the regular season is set to begin just a few months from now. Additionally, the Generals announced that Billy Avalos has been named the new Scouting Director as part of the El Paso Generals coaching staff.
Curtis Morrow (DB/WR) 6'0", 216 lbs. Grambling State -
Curtis Morrow began his college football careeer at West Louisiana Community College. Following WLCC, he transferred to Grambling State and put together solid stats at the defensive back position. After Grambling State, Morrow moved on to professional indoor football starting with the Moore Gators. In one game with Moore, Morrow picked off five passes against the Katy Copperheads and was named Most Valuable Player of that game. In 2007, the Lake Charles, Louisiana native played with the Louisiana Swashbucklers of the Intense Football League and in 2008 he signed and played with the Alaska Wild of the IFL (Intense Football League), and he was part of a defense that helped lead the Wild to a playoff appearance that season.
Ruben Gonzalez (OL) 6'0", 265 lbs. Midwestern State University -
Ruben Gonzalez registered a solid college football career at Midwestern State University. He will bring strength and depth to the offensive line. Following college, Gonzalez became a leader on the field and on the offensive line for the El Paso Rumble of the Intense Football League in 2004. Gonzalez was named to the IFL (Intense Football League) All-Star Team that same season. His experience on the line and in the indoor football game could make him a probable starter on the offensive line for the Generals in 2009.
Darrack Davis (QB) 6'0", 208 lbs. San Angelo State University -
Darrack Davis attended Parkland High School in El Paso, Texas from 1993-1997 where he was a four-year letterman and two-time All-State Honorable Mention at the Quarterback position. He attended San Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas from 1997-1999. Following college, he played for the El Paso Wolf Pack of the SWFL where he led the club to three championships from 2000-2003. From 2004-2005, Davis played for the El Paso Rumble where he participated in all 16 games and was made a starter following Week Two. Davis then played for the El Paso Brawlers from 2006-2008 and was named All-Conference all three seasons he played. He was also named Southern Division Most Valuable Player all three seasons and league Most Valuable Player in 2008. Davis was named First-Team Minor League All-American in the spring of 2007 and 2008.
Billy Avalos, Scouting Director -
Avalos is currently working for Abbott Vascular as a Territory Manager and earned his degree in Radiological Technology from New Mexico State University. He has played and coached at various levels of the game for over 20 years. Avalos has been a regional scout for the past three seasons for two teams, Fort Wayne Fusion and the Mahoning Valley Thunder of the AF2. Currently, Billy is the Acting Site Coordinator in New Mexico for the NFL Junior Player Development Program. He and his wife Candace have four children; Jacob, Isaiah, Tiana, and William.
