
Generals Re-Sign Back Ryan Jorde

FLINT, MI - The Flint Generals, proud members of the IHL and Double A Affiliate of the Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings announced today the re-signing of defenseman Ryan Jorde for the season. Jorde played in 59 games with the Generals during the 07-08 season and notched one goal and nine assists for 10 points and had 86 penalty minutes. The Kelowna, British Columbia native appeared in all five Generals' Turner Cup Playoff games where he had one assist and four penalty minutes.
"Having Ryan Jorde back in the fold strengthens what is shaping up to be a solid blueline" said Head Coach Peter South.
Jorde, who was originally drafted in the ninth round, 279th overall in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, will enter his seventh season as a professional. He has played in the American Hockey League with the Rochester Americans, Grand Rapids Griffins, and the Lowell Lock Monsters. The 6-3 215 pound defender has also played in the ECHL with the Victoria Salmon Kings and the former UHL. Jorde has played in over 300 career professional games notching five goals and 32 assists for 35 points and 449 penalty minutes. Jorde spent his junior career in the Western Hockey League with the Tri-City Americans, Lethbridge Hurricanes and the Moose Jaw Warriors.
In other news on Monday, the Generals announced that they have released defenseman Brian Jacques and placed defenseman Nick Bet on the 30-day Injured Reserve.
The Flint Generals return to action with three games this week, beginning on Thursday night when they host the Kalamazoo Wings at 7 pm. Its Halloween night for the Generals and fans are encouraged to get dress up in a costume and they could win a prize. It's the second week of the '4 for $44 Thursday Family Promotion' where fans can receive 4 end zone tickets, four hot dogs and four 44-ounce Coca-Cola Products for just $44. On Saturday night the Generals host the Port Huron Icehawks at 7:30 pm. There will be a post-game skate with the players immediately after the game. This is a great opportunity for fans to get to know the players and pick-up autographs.
