Klamath Falls Gems News Release
KLAMATH FALLS, OR - The Klamath Falls Gems of the West Coast League today announced the signing of Oregon Tech catcher Dylan Rogers to a contract for the 2012 season.
Rogers, a 6'2", 195 sophomore, is a native of Liberty High School in Las Vegas, NV. He is hitting .341 with six home runs and 43 RBI, leading the Owls in all three categories while starting in 38 of Oregon Tech's 39 games. Among NAIA West Group leaders, Dylan is third in RBI, tied for second in home runs and is 15th in batting average.
"Sometimes a guy just plays his way into a spot," Gems General Manager Chuck Heeman said. "We hadn't planned on signing another catcher but it's hard to ignore the numbers Dylan is putting up. We're glad to have him aboard and hope he does well for us this summer."
Rogers signed a 10-day contract to start the season with the Gems and takes the roster spot of Oregon Tech pitcher Dylan Bedortha, who is out for the summer with an elbow injury.
The Gems are members of the West Coast League, a nine-team professional style wood-bat summer college league. The WCL features pro prospects from major conferences across the country.
