Gems Announce TV Schedule
September 13, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Dayton Gems News Release
Dayton, OH- The Dayton Gems Ownership Group in conjunction with WWRD Television is proud to announce the 12 games that will be shown on television for the upcoming 2010-11 season. Earlier this off season the two parties agreed to a two-year deal of up to 20 games in each of the next two seasons. Over the past two months, it was determined that 12 games would be a nice starting point for the first year of the deal. The announced schedule is also subject to change due to the possibility of WWRD picking up a few road games in addition to the 12 home games.
"As soon as we signed the deal with WWRD two months ago, we were amped up about having our games on local television this season," said Gems President Joe Greene. "WWRD has done nothing but listen and cooperate with us about these 12 games and knowing they have been selected based on the opponent, as well as thinking about the most entertaining games for the fans to watch at home."
The games will be on what is called a Tape Delay. In television terms, this means that the games will not be aired LIVE but will be airing as the games are being completed. Scheduled start time for the Tape Delay will be 9:00 p.m. This will give fans the chance to watch the game after having attended it that same night, which will enhance their experience of Gems Professional Hockey. The 12 game schedule features rivalry games with teams like Fort Wayne and Quad City as well as opponents that have never played at Hara before like Odessa, Colorado, Rapid City, Wichita, Missouri and Evansville.
"We are really looking forward to bringing the Dayton area coverage of the Dayton Gems," said WWRD Sports Coordinator Doug Brown. "Fans can be excited about receiving the best coverage of hockey in Dayton through our network. This is a unique opportunity for us and the city of Dayton to have one of its home teams exposed like they never have been before."
For Time Warner Digital customers, WWRD can be found on Digital channel 997. For all other Time Warmer customers, check local listings for a channel near you. As of this time WWRD is not available on Satellite Television, but that is also subject to change in the next year.
