February 24, 2006 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Twin City Gators News Release
Pre-Season camp is set to begin Monday February 27, 2006 at 5:30pm at West Monroe High School pratice field. Tryouts have been very successful in producing an assortment of local talent. "We knew that our region was overflowing with good quality players who can play the game of football", said co-owner Leonal Hardman. Coach Don Shows and Coach John Carr immediately went to work in putting the players through a series of drills to determine the level of talent. With the first game right around the corner the pressure is on to pick the best players to fill the team's roster. Co-owner Lawrence Vaughn said, "When we advertised the tryouts, we knew guys would come out, but we did not expect to see this many talented guys wanting to play. We have some of the best players in the state right here in Northeast Louisiana and watching these guys tryout just proves that point."
Some players that the community maybe familiar with are:Mike Mitchell(West Monroe and ULM ), Sirl Wright(Crossett,AR and ULM), Brandon Banks(West Monroe and ULM), Dennis Burke(La. Tech University), Gary Cooper(Grambling University), Al Green(Rayville), Michael Sellers(Wossman), Chad White(Mangham and Grambling University), Nathan McFee Jr.(Southern University), Lance Latidais (ULM) and Jody Clampit(ULM) those are just a few of the guys working hard to make the cut. A official roster will be released once all cuts have been made.
"We want to invite the public to come out and witness for themselves what we are putting together. Once you see it with your own eyes, immediately you will be hooked and anticipating the games. Just having Coach Shows and Coach Carr on the same field is unbelievable, and I was speechless when Coach Roger Carr took the field to help out with drills. Having those three coaches on the same field, at the same time, and working together was a work of art. Michelangelo could not have painted a better picture" said Vaughn.
The Twin City Gators are making a buzz around the Twin Cities. Everyone is anxious to see the rebirth of Arena Football in Northeast Louisiana. This is affordable entertainment for the entire family, but most importantly this gives Northeast Louisiana a great source of recreation. The Gators organization are working very hard to make each home game a very festival event. "We plan on making each home game an exciting fun-filled day, there will be tailgating, cook-offs, and live bands. We want this to be big and most of all exciting" said Hardman. If supported and successful the gators could trigger a very positive impact in the economy that could benefit Northeast Louisiana well.
