Gators fall in opener

Twin City Gators News Release
The Gators played the Tennessee Riversharks on March 11, 2006 at Camp Jordan Arena in Chattanooga, Tn.
"We played hard and I was very impressed with the effort the guys put forth at Saturday's game" said co-owner Lawrence Vaughn.
The Gators came out in the first quarter and looked dazed and confused with the speed of the game. Adjustments made by the coaching staff helped bring the Gators up to speed.
"We know how to play football, some of the guys did not know what to expect but we are all athletes and we all wanted to win, and thats why it was a dogfight to the end and we assured Mr. Vaughn and the coaches that we want play like that again" said Marvin Williams a.k.a "Choke Slam Sam".
Marvin Williams was clearly the ball of energy for the Gators in the second half, not on the field but off as well. Williams was ejected from the game mid-way through the third quarter for sending a Rivershark upstream and into the second row of bleachers. The Sharks knew then that they did not want to play the Gators again, they hit to hard and play until the whistle blow.
Another bright spot for the Gators was the defense only allowed one touchdown in the second half and blocked three field goal attempts.
On the offensive side of the ball QB Gary Cooper and WRs Dennis Burke and Gino Williams made big plays and showed signs of a powerful, highscoring and explosive offense led by Coach John Carr.
The Gators have a bye this week and are preparing for the home opener against the Katy Copperheads March 25th at the Monroe Civice Center Arena. Tickets are on sale now at the Box Office and Ticketmaster.
