LAFAYETTE, LA - The Louisiana IceGators returned to the ice to take on the Mississippi Surge in an exhibition game. The game was played at LA Ice.

The IceGators started the exhibition game on the defensive. The Surge had six of the first eight shots in the game. Louisiana goalie, Adam Dekker, with stood all of these efforts though but eventually gave up a goal. Phillip Rose (MIS) scored on an assist from Casey Mignone with 2:48 left in the first period.

The IceGators came out aggressive in the second period but wasn't able to stop Mississippi's second shot on goal by Kyle Frieday to give the Surge a 2-1 lead. The ‘Gators scored on their third shot of the half on an Aaron Davies breakaway to cut the lead in half. Dekker was able to stop all eleven shots he faced in the second period.

"This was a good effort for us tonight," answered IceGators Head Coach Dave MacIsaac when asked about his team's effort during the exhibition game against the Surge. "It is hard to get a sense of your team after only practicing for a week but seeing them in action tonight we could see who wanted the most. Everyone came out kind of tentative, not wanting to make a mistake, but once we got the jitters out we were flying all over rink."

Don't miss a moment of the action as the ‘Gators return home to the dome. For ticket information call (337) 704-4423. ‘Gators drop the puck in the dome on Saturday, November 13 against Fayetteville.
