
GatorGirls Announce Auditions

Lafayette, LA-The GatorGirls are having auditions on May 22 and May 23. The auditions will be held at Sugar-N-Spice Dance Studio (166 S. Beadle Rd, Lafayette, LA). Registration is going to begin at noon and the auditions will follow from 1-4 PM and continue on May 23 through the morning and into the afternoon. There is a $15 audition fee; however the girls that make the team will have their money refunded. "We are looking for dedicated young ladies who are physically fit, talented in dance and have a flair for showmanship and an outgoing personality," stated Lisa Chouest, GatorGirls Coordinator, when asked about the type of ladies they are looking for.
The auditions will be a three-phase audition. The first phase will be on May 22 from 1-4 PM. Participants will learn choreography and a kick line routine. After the end of day one, cuts may be made. Day 2 will begin early on May 23. Staff will interview participants in the mornings. The dance auditions will begin again at 1 PM. At this point of the audition, participants will perform the routine and kick line that was taught to them the previous day in small groups.
Young ladies that want to audition will need to bring a non-returnable photo no larger than 4X6, water bottle, application, signed waiver form, proof of age (if asked for), and $25 audition fee (checks need to be made payable to the Louisiana IceGators.
Participants need to wear a sports bra style top (no tank tops or loose shirts), dance shorts, flesh colored tights, and any type of dance shoes.
Ladies wanting to be a member of the GatorGirls must be 18 years old and a high school graduate by October 1, 2010 and must have reliable transportation.
If chosen there will be mandatory practice every Wednesday from 7-9 PM starting in September at Sugar-N-Spice Dance Studio and attend a mandatory training weekend for all team members September 17-19. GatorGirls are required to also attend approximately 18 games over a six-month period and must be able to attend all home games that an ice performance will take place. GatorGirls are also required to make appearances in the community and work the Junior GatorGirl Camp.
The GatorGirls perform at home games and have appeared on KLFY TV-10's Passe Partout Morning Show. The GatorGirls serve as goodwill ambassadors for the Louisiana IceGators organization. This year's team will make appearances on television and radio and throughout the Acadiana community.
