Gateway High School selected as venue for Auroa Cavalry
November 2, 2005 - International Basketball League (IBL)
Aurora Cavalry News Release
Aurora, Colorado - Aurora Cavalry officials today announced the selection of Gateway High School in Aurora, Colorado as the venue for the team's basketball games. The Aurora Cavalry is the International Basketball League's newest expansion team and officially begins its season in March 2006. The Cavalry will play 12 home games at Gateway High School. The Cavalry will not be playing their April 21st home game versus Oakland at Gateway High School due to the school's prior commitment. The site for this game has yet to be determined but will most likely be played at Aurora Central or Hinkley High School.
"We think Gateway High School and the Aurora Cavalry are a perfect fit for the Aurora community," said Aurora Cavalry co-owner Dirk Speyer. "We are proud to play our home games at Gateway High School, and we look forward to families, students and school officials coming out for the games."
In choosing Gateway High School as the venue, Aurora Cavalry officials considered the school's newly renovated gym, which seats up to 2,000 people and its handicap accessibility. In addition, team officials cited the school's location to major highways, I-25 and I-225, as major factors in selecting Gateway High School as the location for the games.
The Aurora Cavalry has a 20-game season, which begins on March 31, 2006. Games will be played Thursdays through Sundays throughout the season.
