Oklahoma Storm News Release
MILFORD, CT â (April 1, 2005) The USBL's Oklahoma Storm announce today the return of Bryan Gates as the team's General Manager and Head Coach. Gates patrolled the sidelines for the Storm when they first came into the USBL in 2000 as an expansion team.
"We are very confident in Bryan's ability to lead the Oklahoma franchise both on and off the basketball court," USBL Director of Operations Ed Krinsky said. "He proved that in Florence last year."
Gates commented, "I am very excited to be back in Enid and to the Storm. I was here when they started and I am looking forward to being a part of the Enid community again."
Oklahoma has already signed four players for the upcoming season: Chianti Roberts, Joe Atkins, Eric Coley and Ebi Era. Roberts and Atkins are products of Oklahoma State, while Era played at the University of Oklahoma and Coley at the University of Tulsa.
"The first thing I did was call Chianti and Joe," Gates replied, "Once they said they would play, I was coming back to Enid."
The Oklahoma Storm will play their home games at the Chisholm Trail Expo Center. Oklahoma will begin the year on the road, opening the season in Salina, Ks against the Cagerz on Friday April 22. The Storm hosts the Cagerz for their home opener a week later on April 30th. Gates is looking forward to the season, "I know it is a quick turnaround, but our expectations are high."
The Oklahoma Storm office is located in Oakwood Mall. For ticket information please call (580) 234-4334.
