"Garden Greats" Night at the Titans Game Saturday

April 9, 2008 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Orlando Titans News Release

New York, NY -- The New York Titans of the National Lacrosse League have declared their game against the Colorado Mammoth on Saturday, April 12 at 8pm "Garden Greats Night." Any fan wearing the jersey of a Knicks, Rangers or Liberty legend will receive one complimentary ticket to the Titans game.

"Our theme for the month of April is honoring local heroes," said Titans COO Timothy Kelly. "At our game on April 18, we're honoring 2007 and 2008 PSAL championship teams and we're honoring the men and women who serve our nation in the military at our game on April 26 by having a preliminary Army vs. Navy alumni match. We thought it would be a great way to kick off the month at our first game back at the Garden on April 12 by honoring the Garden Greats who have come before the Titans and have captured the hearts of New York fans."

After a long road stint, the 6-6 Titans are returning to the Garden for the first time since February 10, when they beat the Buffalo Bandits 10-9 in a sudden death overtime thriller. Since that game, the Titans have won five of their last seven games to reach a 6-6 record. They are in fifth place in the east and are one half game out of the playoffs, behind the 7-6 Toronto Rock, with four more games to play in the regular season.

On Saturday, the Titans face the Colorado Mammoth for the first time in franchise history. The Mammoth are the number one team in the West and are the only team in the NLL to have clinched a playoff spot.

"Our focus right now is on Colorado and this game only," said Titans Head Coach Adam Mueller. "We are in a position where we control our own destiny and cannot expect help from other teams. The playoffs are a long way away and we need to think about playing complete game and go out and do it."

Going into the game on Saturday, the Titans continue to lead the league in power play goals with 48. Their captain Casey Powell is ninth in the league in points with 68 off of 26 goals and 42 assists. Jamie Hanford, a player the Titans acquired from the Colorado Mammoth in the off-season, is currently second in the league at the center circle, controlling 203-324 face-offs.

The Titans play three games at home in April beginning this Saturday at 8pm. Their next game is on Friday, April 18 at 7:30pm versus the Chicago Shamrox. They play their last game of the regular season on April 26 versus the Rochester Knighthawks at 8pm.

"We are looking forward to coming back to the Garden for the first time in about two months," Mueller added. "We have done well on the road this season but are looking forward to being in front of a home crowd."
