Garcia one away from 700
April 27, 2005 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
New York Dragons News Release
Dragons QB Aaron Garcia is approaching a milestone no professional football player has ever reached before. The All-Arena signal caller and 2001 Offensive Player of the Year is just one touchdown pass shy of 700 for his career. He is set to break the record this weekend when the Dragons travel south to take on their Eastern Division rival the Dallas Desperados.
Last weekend, Garcia came close to hitting the milestone by throwing five touchdowns, including three in the final quarter. In the Dragons' season opener on February 6, Garcia completed 18 of 34 passes for 212 yards and five touchdowns.
Garcia reached the 650 passing touchdown plateau versus the Arizona Rattlers in Week Five on February 27. Last year on April 18 versus the Colorado Crush he threw the 600th touchdown pass of his career. He was the first professional football player to reach both of those milestones.
In his eleventh AFL season, Garcia is still one of the league's top passers. He remains first all-time with 699 touchdowns and is second in all-time passing yards with 33,606 and in pass completions with 2,846.
