Garcia Leads Dragons Over Unbeaten San Jose SaberCats
March 7, 2004 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
New York Dragons News Release
QB Aaron Garcia threw for 285-yards and nine touchdown passes as he led the New York Dragons (2-3) to a 64-50 victory over the San Jose SaberCats (3-1) for their first win of the season at the Nassau Coliseum. Over 10,000 fans watched the Dragons stop the SaberCats offense three times in the second half, including interceptions by DS Terrance Joseph and Ironman of the Game Lincoln Dupree.
"I was pleased with all around effort today," said an ecstatic Head Coach Todd Shell after the game. "I've been involved in a lot of football games, but I've never been as proud after a win as am I today. It wasn't a Super Bowl or an Arena Bowl, but for our situation it was huge. It was probably one of the biggest wins I've been associated with. We beat the best team in the League."
Orange, New Jersey native Will Holder caught five passes, three for touchdowns, accumulating 114 receiving-yards along with Lincoln DuPree who caught four passes for 56 and two touchdowns along with an interception.
Next week, the Dragons head south to face the defending ArenaBowl Champions Tampa Bay Storm.
