New York Dragons News Release

QB Aaron Garcia has hit a milestone no professional football player has reached before – throwing for 700 career touchdowns. He accomplished the milestone when he connected with OS Kevin Swayne a 37-yard pass in the first quarter of the New York Dragons 65-57 victory over the Dallas Desperados on Friday night at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX.

“The victory is the best part of it, but it was a great night all around,” Garcia said after the game. “Number one, number 500, 600 and 700 are all special. I hope to stay around for 800, 900 and 1,000. All these touchdowns are for my children back home.”

Garcia finished the game completing 18 of 31 passes for 206 yards and five touchdowns. In his career, he has completed 2,861 passes for 33,808 yards and 704 touchdowns. Garcia entered the game with 699 career touchdown passes.

Garcia previously reached the 650 passing touchdown plateau versus the Arizona Rattlers in Week Five on February 27. Last year on April 18 versus the Colorado Crush, he became the first professional football player to throw for 600 career touchdowns. He was the first professional football player to reach both of those milestones.

The two-time All-Arena passer (2000 and 2001) is the only quarterback to throw for 100 or more touchdowns in a single season. He did it twice, first in 2001 with 104 and again in 2003 with 100. Garcia is also seventh and ninth on the single season passing touchdowns record list with 92 in 2000 and 91 in 2004. He was honored as the LeagueÂ’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2001.

The Dragons return home to the Nassau Coliseum next weekend to take on the Columbus Destroyers. Great seats are still available and interested fans should call 1-866-AFL-TIXX to speak with a Dragons ticket representative.
