Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA (June 5, 2014) - The Soul got back on track this past weekend with a win over the Talons. The Soul (6-5) hope to continue this trend as they hit the road to take on the Tampa Bay Storm (5-6) for the third time this season. This game will take place at the Tampa Bay Times Forum on Saturday, June 7 at 5 p.m. and will be broadcasted on ESPN3.

The Soul took control of the Week 12 game early by outscoring the Talons 28-0 in the first quarter. The game ended with a Soul win (76-40), which is the teams' new high score for the 2014 season. "It is a must win for us since we split the games with them. Whoever wins this weekend has the tie breaker so it is the most important game we've played so far." states Soul head coach Coach Dolezel.

In the Week 13 matchup, the Soul hope their offense will continue to keep the ball moving. Soul quarterback, Dan Raudabaugh, is coming off of a productive week against San Antonio completing 14-of-17 passes for 224 yards and five touchdowns and being awarded the Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Game. On the season, he has completed 216-of-318 passes for 2,676 yards. Storm quarterback, Randy Hippeard, had an effective Week 12 as well. On the season, he has completed 208-of-354 passes for 2,690 yards and 59 touchdowns.

Raudabaugh continues to connect with his receivers and looks to keep the momentum going into the matchup against the Storm. Soul WR, Tiger Jones, had four touchdowns in Week 12 and has 68 receptions for 941 yards and 24 touchdowns this season. Emery Sammons had four receptions for 106 yards and two touchdowns last game, giving him 11 receptions for 196 yards and three touchdowns on the season. Jones and Sammons will matchup with Storm defensive back, Jean Fanor, who has a total of 69.0 tackles and eight pass breakups. Storm defensive back, Rod Issac, will also be tough competition, adding a total of 54.0 tackles with nine pass breakups.

The Soul defense is looking to bring pressure to the Storm offense. Soul DB, Rayshaun Kizer, was awarded the Riddell Defensive Player of the Game during Week 12 after recording 7.0 total tackles, two pass breakups and a nine-yard interception return for a touchdown. He leads his team defensively with 63.5 total tackles, 18 pass breakups and leads his time in interceptions with five. Close behind Kizer is defensive back James Romain with 46.5 total tackles, 11 pass breakups and four interceptions. Joe Goosby also had a great game during Week 12 with 5.5 total tackles, a force fumble and a fumbled recovery for a touchdown. He now has a total of 32.0 tackles, two pass breakups and two interceptions on the season.

The Storm offense will give the Soul a tough defensive challenge. Storm wide receiver, Amarri Jackson, has a total of 73 receptions for 894 yards and 13 touchdowns. During Week 12, wide receiver Joe Hills was the main target. He recorded nine receptions for 118 yards and four touchdowns. On the season, Hills has 43 receptions for 581 yards and 19 touchdowns.

The Soul will come home for Week 14 where they will take on the Pittsburgh Power. This game will take place on Saturday, June 14 at 6 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Center.
