San Diego Seals News Release
After a statement win on the road at Colorado in the franchise's inaugural game, the San Diego Seals look to bring the same energy and determination as the team travels to Calgary to play the Roughnecks on Friday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome at 6:00 PM PST.
Goaltender Frank Scigliano stood tall in his Seals debut, stopping 44 shots on goal. Scigliano will take the reins between the pipes on Friday as he faces his former team for the first time after being selected in the sixth round of the 2018 NLL Expansion Draft by San Diego.
"I'm not going to think too much of it, honestly," said Scigliano. "I'm just going to play it like another game. I have friends on that team and have made memories there, but at the end of the day they are the opponent now and we're going there to get a win."
Defenseman Garrett McIntosh, like Scigliano, was another ex-Roughneck who's now a Seal via the Expansion Draft. McIntosh scored the first goal in franchise history on Saturday, and scooped up eight loose balls. The 6-3, 225-pound defenseman will play his first game at the Scotiabank Saddledome not in a Roughnecks uniform.
"I have great memories in that building," said McIntosh. "The Saddledome is pretty legendary - it's loud, there's lots of fans, and the fire... With everything going on, it's going to be different being on the other side of it. We're looking to go up there and show up just like we did [last week]."
San Diego enters the contest with a 1-0 record while Calgary sits at 1-1.
"We need to stay disciplined and focused," said general manager and head coach Patrick Merrill. "[Calgary] has a lot of firepower and a great defense. They're very well-coached and we know we're going to have our hands full."
