San Diego Seals News Release
The San Diego Seals continue their month-long home-stand on Friday night as the team welcomes the Saskatchewan Rush to Pechanga Arena for a 7:00pm face-off. This will be Saskatchewan's first and only trip to America's Finest City scheduled during the NLL's regular season.
"Sask is a dynasty in this league and you can never count them out," said General Manager and Head Coach Patrick Merrill. "We were able to pull out a big win against them last time, but we know this one isn't going to be easy. They're going to coming in hungry and we're going to need to be ready. This is a must-win game for them which is going to be tough for us."
The last time these two teams met, the Seals held on for a gutsy, character win at the SaskTel Centre. San Diego was down eight players due to COVID protocol, including goalie Frank Scigliano and captain Brodie Merrill, and pulled out a 12-11 win behind 20-year-old rookie goaltender Justin Geddie who made his first career NLL start.
"We were all kinda out of sorts in Sask," continued Merrill. "The team really stepped up, showed up and proved what kind of team we are. I'm really proud of them for that and we're going to bring that same determination to the game on Friday night."
San Diego currently enters Friday's game sitting in first place in the West Division with a 7-2 record. The Seals were able to bounce back and return to the win column last week defeating the Calgary Roughnecks for the season series sweep. Forward Wesley Berg continued his MVP-caliber season, scoring an around-the-world diving goal, good for the top spot on ESPN's SportsCenter top plays.
Friday's game will feature Kings & Convicts beers two for $12 until supplies last. Tickets for the game are available at SealsLax.com. Fans unable to attend the game will be able to watch the game on ESPN+. ESPN will stream all San Diego Seals games throughout the 2021-22 season.
