Game Postponed In Halifax
Published on November 8, 2009 under Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) News Release
BOUCHERVILLE, Sunday, November 8, 2009 - The Commissioner of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Gilles Courteau, today announced that next Tuesday' game between the Cataractes and the Mooseheads in Halifax has been postponed since six players from the Cataractes have shown symptoms of the H1N1 virus.
"We received confirmation this morning that six players from the Shawinigan Cataractes had flu-like symptoms," said the Commissioner. "Thankfully, none of them need to be hospitalized. We await their test results, but while we wait the players have been isolated as recommended by public health officials. Following the recommandations of our chief physician, Dr. Sylvain Boutet, and the doctor of the Cataractes, Claude Lessard, next Tuesday's game has been postponed. The Cataractes were very proactive and deserve their share of credit. We would like to take this opportunity to encourage teams and their staff to maintain preventive measures and we recommend that they receive the vaccine while remaining vigilant to signs pointing to the appearance of an outbreak."
