Kingston Frontenacs News Release
Class is in session! It's very early in the morning but the puck will drop at 10:30am this morning as the schools of Kingston and the surrounding area will descend on Slush Puppie Place for our annual School Day Game. Just like last year, it'll be the Ottawa 67's coming into town and you'd have to think they'd be looking for a bit of revenge as the Frontenacs just defeated the 67's in Ottawa on Sunday afternoon following an Ethan Miedema buzzer beater with just 0.9 seconds left on the clock in overtime to steal a victory.
In two matchups so far this season, each team has walked away a winner with both games needing overtime to find a winner. The rivalry between these two squads runs deep, and we'll see if the sparks fly with an arena full of loud and excited kids cheering the Frontenacs on. Let's get set for the action in another edition of Game Notes.
From the Archives of Jim Gilchrist:
Legendary Frontenacs play-by-play announcer Jim Gilchrist sent these notes to the editor for today's matchup:
The Frontenacs are 7-5-1-0 in 13 morning games in franchise history
67's came away victorious in last year's School Day contest in Kingston, while the Frontenacs beat the 67's in their School Day game. Will history repeat itself?
Kingston is currently riding a four game winning streak and are looking to make it five with consecutive wins over the 67's
Keep the Legs Moving Early
This was the same topic of discussion in Sunday's article and it rings true for today as well; the 10:30am start can absolutely throw players off. We've seen it before that anything can happen in these School Day games. An arena full of screaming kids, the early start time and two bitter rivals going at it can sometimes be a recipe for an explosion of emotions. The Frontenacs need to make sure they calm things down early, stick to their game and get the legs jumping early on.
If Kingston can keep their legs moving early, finish their checks and get the kids in the stands behind them early, it could very well lead to consecutive W's against their rivals from the nation's capital.
