A Look at the Coaches:

Las Vegas Locos Head Coach: Jim Fassel

Overall UFL regular-season record: 9-5

Jim Fassel has a 1-1 record in his opening week games as a UFL coach

Sacramento Mountain Lions: Dennis Green

Overall UFL regular-season record: 6-8

Dennis Green has an 0-2 record in his opening week games as a UFL coach

The Game: The UFL's longest-standing rivalry - both among teams and Head Coaches - is renewed in Week 1 when the Las Vegas Locomotives and the Sacramento Mountain Lions start their season at Hornet Stadium.

The two franchises have played each other four previous times, including in the league's first-ever game on Oct. 8, 2009. Las Vegas won the first three meetings in the series before the Mountain Lions won the last matchup of 2010.

Las Vegas, the two-time defending UFL champions, goes into the 2011 UFL season with its third different opening-day starting quarterback in as many seasons - 2010 UFL Championship Game Most Valuable Player Chase Clement. Among Clement's returning targets are running back DeDe Dorsey, tight end Adam Bergen and wide receivers Andrae Thurman and Samie Parker. Locos stalwarts on defense include defensive end Eric Henderson, linebackers Teddy Lehman and Brandon Moore and cornerback Wale Dada. This is the first time in three seasons the Locos have opened their campaign on the road

Sacramento is in the midst of choosing its quarterback without record-setting Daunte Culpepper, but the Mountain Lions' offense still has workhorse running back Cory Ross, the UFL's all-time leading rusher and receiver. Sacramento also features former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jordan Palmer. On defense, Sacramento has sack master Josh Savage at defensive end and returning linebackers Michael Tauiliili and Dontarrious Thomas. The Mountain Lions also return diminutive return dynamo Aaron Woods, as well. This is the first time the Mountain Lions have opened a season at home.

The Series: Series began in 2009

The Mountain Lions franchise began life as the California Redwoods, one of four charter members of the UFL in 2009 and went 2-4 in its inaugural season. On March 3, 2010, the UFL announced the franchise would make its permanent home in Sacramento, California, and play its home games in Hornet Stadium.

Las Vegas Locos lead the series: 3- 1

The Locos have won both games on their travels to Northern California, 16-10 in 2009 and 26-3 2010.

Last regular-season meeting: Nov. 6, 2010 in Las Vegas: Sacramento 27 Las Vegas 24

Dorsey scored two touchdowns for the Las Vegas Locomotives against the California Redwoods in the first ever game of the UFL on Oct. 8, 2009, which the Locos won 30-17.
