Mississippi Braves News Release
GREENVILLE, SC - In an effort to assist victims of the recent hurricanes that have battered the East and Gulf Coasts, the Greenville Braves have donated both bottled water and money to the Greenville Chapter of the American Red Cross. In addition to a cash donation of $900 that was collected during several home games, the Braves have donated close to 6,500, 20-ounce bottles of water to aid those in need of drinking water in areas effected by heavy flooding and broken water lines.
"Knowing that these storms have created hardship for many, this is our small way of lending support to those who are in need," said Greenville Braves General Manager Steve DeSalvo. "The Red Cross does a tremendous job and we wanted to help."
The class "AA" affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, the "G-Braves" recently completed playing their 21st and final season in Greenville, South Carolina. The franchise is moving to Pearl, Mississippi, to begin play in April, 2005.
