Ottawa Fury FC News Release
OTTAWA, ON - With the regular season opener in New York just over a week away, Ottawa Fury FC added some offensive depth to its squad with he signing of Israeli forward Idan Vered (Ee-don Vair-red), pending ITC approval. The 27-year-old joins Fury FC after spending last season in the Serbian SuperLiga with the Red Star Belgrade.
"He's a dynamic forward, he's quick and he can score goals," said Fury FC head coach Paul Dalglish. "We've kind of got away from that target forward style of play and we try to have a system with three dynamic forwards and he's going to be a really good complement to our team."
Vered played his entire career in Israel with Hakoah Amidar Ramt Gan, Beitar Jerusalem and Maccabi Haifa before making the move to Serbia. The 5-foot-9 forward is a product of Maccabi Tel Aviv's youth academy and spent majority of his professional career with Maccabi where he featured in 130 games from 2010 to 2015.
Ottawa opens the 2016 campaign April 3 in New York - a rematch of last November's NASL Championship Final. Fury FC will host the expansion Miami FC in their home opener at TD Place on April 30.
Fans can renew or buy their 2016 Fury FC season tickets here and become part of a growing legion of fans that has helped make TD Place a fortress.
