Ottawa, ON - After playing in front of family and friends at TD Place for three years wearing the blue of FC Edmonton, Ottawa Fury FC announced Tuesday that veteran NASL defender Eddie Edward will now don the red and black of his hometown Ottawa Fury FC.

"I'd like to thank FC Edmonton for providing Eddie the opportunity to be close to home during a difficult time for his family," said head coach Paul Dalglish. "We are delighted to welcome Eddie back home and are thrilled to have him in our squad. Eddie brings experience, a determined work ethic and will fit into our system very well."

Currently featuring in his fifth North American Soccer League campaign, Edward brings a wealth of experience to his hometown club. After a two seasons with MLS side FC Dallas, the dynamic right-back moved to the NASL's Puerto Rico Islanders in 2012. After a season in the Caribbean, Edward returned to Canada signing with FC Edmonton where he has since featured in 79 matches for the Eddies. In all, Edward has played 99 NASL matches logging 8268 minutes.

"I first want to thank Tom Fath, Colin Miller and everyone with FC Edmonton for making this possible and for everything that there organization has done for me over the past four years," said Edward.

"There's no place like home," he added. "Every player dreams of playing for their hometown club and to have the opportunity to play in front of family and friends and represent my city is a special honour."

Earlier this month, Fury FC announced the addition of Mallan Roberts on a season-long loan from Edmonton that will now see these two defenders reunited in the Nation's Capital.

The Ottawa native developed with Ottawa South United that resulted in a scholarship to Graceland University helping lead the Yellowjackets to the NAIA Championship in his rookie season. During his time at University, Edward spent his summer playing in the PDL including two seasons with

Ottawa Fury (2007 and 2009) along with stops in Des Moines and Kansas City.
