Camden Riversharks News Release

CAMDEN - The Camden Riversharks are focused on fundraising. This week, the club unveiled a new risk-free fundraising program that is expected to raise more than $250,000 in support of community programs this year.

"Fundraising with the Riversharks" is a web-based system that enables the club to track how many tickets have been purchased on behalf of a select organization. Each ticket purchased using the group's "fundraising code" will generate either $5 or $6 for the organization.

"We created this program as a response to the soaring number of fundraising requests we're getting. During these tough economic times, charitable money is drying up," Riversharks president Jon Danos said. "We needed to design another program to meet the demand and help. "

The fundraising program fits groups of all shapes and sizes, from church groups to large foundations, from small athletic teams to district athletic councils. The New Jersey Breast Cancer Research Fund was among the first groups to sign up for the program.

"No money down - all a group needs to do is select a game date," Riversharks General Manager Adam Lorber said. "We will provide a kit to each fundraising coordinator, including flyers and other materials to help distribute the special fundraising code. This code is then entered at our homepage, www.riversharks.com , and used to track all ticket sales. Sure beats going door-to-door selling candy."

Groups that sell tickets for weekday games will raise $6 for their organization with each ticket sold. Selling tickets for weekend games will yield a profit of $5 per ticket. For example, if a group sells 250 tickets for a Wednesday night game, it will raise $1,500 for the organization. A group that sells 1,000 tickets to a Friday or Saturday game will raise $5,000, all without any money down.

"We designed this program to be risk-free for community groups," Danos said. "In all my years in baseball, I've never seen a fundraising concept quite like this."

To select a game and set up a fundraising code, groups can call 1-866-SHARKS-9 and ask for any Riversharks group events coordinator. The program will apply for any home game in 2009, based on availability.

Fundraising with the Riversharks joins several programs that have been in place since the club's inception. The team will again share up to 12% of concessions proceeds with non-profit groups who volunteer to work in the concessions stands.

The Riversharks are again developing specialty jersey auctions for several theme nights in 2009. Each year, the club raises $20,000 or more through these types of fundraisers.

Information on these and other Riversharks community programs can be found on www.riversharks.com.

The Riversharks will take on the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in their 2009 season opener, which is scheduled for 7:05 P.M. on Friday, May 1st. To purchase tickets to opening night or any other games, visit www.riversharks.com or call 1-866-SHARKS-9.
