Full Steam Ahead for Baltimore Mariners

BALTIMORE, MD (August 10, 2009) - As former Arena Football League (AFL) coaches, fans, and players the Baltimore Mariners were saddened to here of the AFL's suspension of operations. After being deluged by phone calls concerning the AFL, the Baltimore Mariners want to ensure indoor football fans that the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) and Mariners are actively working toward a successful 2010 season.

Mariners General Manager Greg Justice commented, "2010 ticket packages are being set and we are signing our 2009 sponsors back for another season. Efforts have already begun to sign new sponsors and add exciting fan experience options for the 2010 season. The Mariners will not go away in the off-season and will be very visible in the community."

The Mariners recently signed Justice and Head Coach Chris Simpson to new contracts and are in the process of signing coaching and front office staff and players to contracts for the 2010 season, which kicks off this winter. This week the AIFA also announced the Richmond Raiders as the name of its newest expansion franchise. The Raiders will call the Richmond Coliseum, which holds over 11,000 fans, home for the upcoming indoor football season.

Justice knows the Mariners have their work cut out for them after improving from 4-10 in their inaugural season to a 9-5 playoff team in 2009, "For the 2010 season, it is safe to say Baltimore will not fly under the radar. The Mariners were dominating at home with only one loss at 1st Mariner Arena; to the 2008 AIFA champions. We need to improve the way we travel and learn to finish to bring the AIFA championship to Baltimore. All things than can be accomplished with good old fashioned hard work and dedication from the Front Office, Coaching Staff, and players."
