Fuld rejoins Tennessee Smokies

Sevierville, Tennessee -- The Tennessee Smokies Professional Baseball Club, the Class AA Southern League Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, have added outfielder Sam Fuld to the active roster.

Fuld rejoins the Smokies after spending the primary portion of the 2007 season with Tennessee. He also had brief stints with AAA Iowa, as well as appearing in 14 games with the Chicago Cubs. Fuld's time with Chicago was highlighted by an amazing catch and double-play putout in the seventh inning at Wrigley Field against the Pittsburgh Pirates on September 22, 2007.

The 26-year-old is a native of Durham, NH. A graduate of Stanford University, Sam is in his third season of professional baseball. The Chicago Cubs selected Fuld in the 10th round of the 2004 draft. Fuld joins the Smokies from the Iowa Cubs (AAA). The Smokies now have three active players on the Cubs 40-man roster Fuld, Jake Fox, and pitcher Jeff Samardzija.

Tennessee continues their 5-game series against the Montgomery Biscuits on the road Friday night. The Smokies will return home after a five-game set in Montgomery on Tuesday May 20th against the Mississippi Braves at 7:15 PM.
