Daytona Beach, FL - The Florida State League today named the Player and Pitcher of the Week for May 13 - May 19, 2013.
The Player of the Week was Daytona Cubs Infielder Dustin Geiger. He played in eight (8) games and had 15 hits in 32 plate appearances for a .469 batting average. His hits included two (2) homeruns, one (1) triple, and seven (7) doubles. He had seven (7) RBI's, and scored six (6) times. Dustin had a .514 OBP and a .938 slugging average. This is his fourth year of professional baseball and he resides in Merritt Island, FL.
The Pitcher of the Week was Dunedin Blue Jays Right-hander Austin Bibens-Dirkx. He started one (1) game and recorded a win, and posted a 0.00 ERA. In seven (7) innings pitched he gave up one (1) hit, no runs, issued one (1) walk, and struck out 10 batters. Austin is in his seventh year of professional baseball and was born in Salem, OR.
